Plumbing Dual Overflow

After few setbacks, I may finally be closing in on the 180g upgrade. I have few questions and need your input.

My current setup is a 72g bowfront currently plumbed to the basement. The new tank being a dual overflow, I am trying to picture how the dual overflow can be plumbed. Does it get split right before it enters the tank?

The dashed line is the drain, the solid line is the return. It works really well.
