Posting in old threads - Wakin up the dead!

I've noticed that people are commenting or responding to old threads that should no longer be responded to. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way but its annoying. Especially seeing these old threads in my "new replies to post" section. This might be by accident because say if your lookin under " show unread post since last visit " and then after you post to one of those topics, it won't bring you back to the same unread section it brings you to the forum i guess where the thing you posted about was originally posted. then you just start reading and posting not knowing how old those topics are.

Bottom line check the date on the last post before you reply. Please- Thanks ;D

It just annoying to see these old resolved topics in my new replies again.

Does anyone know what i mean about after you post it brings you back to that specific forum the topic was in? Not back to the unread section? I think this is some of the reason cause then you might have 3-4 new topics and the rest get older fast

I do agree it is an annoyance....but I do not think its post padding as there is nothing to post pad for.

True no more for sale, but you have to admitt your name looks nicer with the big numbers under it LOL
Plus your stars or status goes up or whatever. Doesn't really matter most padders prob will get bored fast and have a short stay on here

But on a on a serious note.. I think some people and im guilty of this too use the search feature here and don't want to make the same thread topics over and over again... some would say that's BB Etiquette

Well it is general discussion and it is somethin to do with the njreef website. So being it's about the njreef site i didnt want to put it in off topic discussion cause thats for all things non reef related. I dont know it was a tough decision i stayed up all night wondering about it

well, if its a reply to a 2 year old picture of zoos, i will agree, but alot of the older topics that get posted on are feedback to a thread someone found 20 pages back. . . . if it makes a helpful topic thats fallen dormant easier to find, thats cool

I'm talking about after a issue has been resolved for 2-3 weeks a month whatever, then someone will post "oh that happened to me too" or it will be a fish or coral id that 3 people all ready agreed what it is, and someone will say " yeah i agree" a week or 3 weeks later

I like when someone post something like "OK, I figured out the problem my lights. I blew a breaker but it's all fixed now." Then 6 months later someone posts "Did you check your bulbs?"

Maybe these clowns all work for a computer help desk somewhere . . .

I also feel there is a time when a thread should be pulled off the mothballs, but there are many(usually padders) that like John suggested don't even know what is going on....Read the DAMN thread !!!! There are actually some people on here that do the same with current threads....people read back a few lines if you have to..LOL

That drives me nuts.

lol@ people worried about other peoples post counts.. I thought this site was about Reefing, Ideas, Help, Info and the well being of this hobby for people living in NJ..The last thing I look at is post counts or if someone posted something 2 weeks or 1 year after the thread was made.. I just read Content and maybe jump in on the Discussion :)
