Powerhead flow for filtration?

I know people do this and i'm thinking of starting out with nothing but flow and live rock. I'm just wondering if it's any harder to upkeep.

actually easier but I got my flow from the plumming I did I guess power heads would do it also. no filters to clean and change just a sponge.

The price for that approach is lower stocking levels and more frequent water changes.

Both good things IMHO.
