Well early this morning was the first time we have lost power for an extended period of time since my tank has been running. I waited about 90 minutes, then broke out the generator to keep things moving. I think my next purchase will be the EcoTech battery backup and a general UPS.

Have other folks used the Ecotech backup? What are your experiences? I was going to grab a UPS that would run for about 20 minutes, which is a typical outage, unlike the 4 hour one we had today.

I just purchased the ecotech battery backup the other week. I haven't had a any powerless, but I tested it & it does work like it says.

I have the old style battery and the new style(still in box) The old battery ran my vortech for 3 straight days when I had power out during Hurricane Irene last summer. I am a firm believer that I would have lost a lot more, if not everything if I didn't have it running. I set mine just below the "drained" waterlevel when the power is out and high enough to ripple the surface with the occasional puff of air drawn in while running.
