here is the reply I got from Boomer

Boomer William Wing It sounds like it is ROWA, does it look the same ? GFH is the name used by Siemens, which is what ROWA is renamed. GFO/GFH, where developed in Germany for 3rd world countries for the removal of Arsenic from their potable/drinking water. ROWA is also awet GFO, the others are dry GFO. Matter of fact the photo that ROWA uses is the same photo on the Siemens website. ROWA, is also Akaganiete. ROWA cost more mostly due to shopping costs from Europe and the middle man. Both of those are made in Germany, where 95 % of all GFO is made. Most of the others are various "types" of Bayoxide. And most of the GFO, 95 % of it in this hobby, is one of the 3 types of Bayoxide, ie, granular, pellet or HC granular.

It looks like Rowaphos, and if it's kept wet that's another similar trait. I agree that the price is very good if it's the same materials Ed.

I would say try it and if it gives you similar results then let us know so we can all start saving money. ;)

Think it is a matter of all the Siemens producing the product for everyone.

Be very careful when using Rowaphos. It works great but it will drop P04 very fast compare to GFO. It could have a negative effect on you corals. Trust me I know LOL.
IT is very fine and can make a big mess in your sump if you feed the water a little to fast. Been there also LOL.

I can't believe they actually say not to rinse it. I use it and always rinse. Usually take me about 5gals of water to get it clean.
