Purple LTA losing color.

I bought a beautiful purple LTA a month or so ago. At first I placed it in piece of PVC in the sand. It was happy there for 2weeks or so. One day it took a stroll to underneath a cave where it can't get ANY light whatsoever. It's been like this for quite a few weeks now. It's open & happy but is losing just about all it's color. What should I do? Foot is planted.

I already have 2 bta's, couple carpet nems, some maxi mini nems etc. Lit by radions @ 60% max. running gfo & carbon.

Depending on the size of your tank, you have too many nems. You will notice the nem starting to loose color and slowly shrink.

I didn't mean to say carpet nems. I meant couple of ROCK nems. I do NOT have any carpet nems.

Mixing anemones species can be tricky even with bubbles and carpets and even some leathers corals will respond negatively and vice versa.

Well, almost all the color is gone. How do I get this dying nem out?? Is it going to poison my tank?

If you can get to the foot, I've heard of people using an icecube to make them detach.

Also do you feed it, it may prolong its death until you can figure out what to do.

Can you aim a power head at it? If you can do that and it will get pissed and it should move.

Are you sure it's dying? It may be losing color from too much light, that's why it's in a cave. I would leave it alone unless the mouth is open with it's guts hanging out or melting.

To me it just looks like it's trying to stay out of the intense light.

I just looked this morning.. it's open & actually still has color on the tips. Mouth is not open. I guess I'll wait & see! My other nem has been moving all around ever since I did a 3day black out the other day. Won't sit still.

I agree with Jeff. If it was loosing color it would be quite white, which is not evident in your photo. Suggest you feed it occasionally with vitamin laced food, and just let it be. I cut fresh ShopRite shrimp into 3/8" cubes, put a drop of baby vitamins on each cube, and freeze the cubes for future use.
