pygmy angle

my pygmy seems to be healthy, it spends all day picking at the rocks, and the sand bed, eating algea i assume, but it wont eat any food i offer, mysis and clip of a peice of algea. all other fish eat and are healthy, wondering if the pygmy will be ok just eating what it can find on the rocks and sand?

Usually pygmy angles will eat the usual fish foods. If this is a new fish, it will likely come around. Sometimes it can take a few weeks.

As long as the fish looks healthy, and not loosing weight, you don't have a problem. If it starts to look thin, you may have a real problem on your hands, and usually there isn't too much you can do.

Since you have other fish in the tank, hopefully the pygmy will learn by watching the other fish, what feeding time is.

But, on a more serious note, pygmy angels do generally feed on algae and also some meaty foods. Certain species generally don't work as captive pets for smaller tanks or pristinely kept tanks because they primarily just graze on nothing but algae, making it difficult to get them onto prepared foods. Keep trying at it and perhaps use a garlic additive with your food or mix in some live brine to help entice it to feed more regularly.

What kind of a pygmy is it? Altantic pygmy (cherub), coral beauty, lemonpeel, herald's, potters, golden, midnight (nox), keyhole, bluefin?

How long have you had it? I have a potters angel that did not eat anything that I gave it for about two months but was still fat. He picked at the rocks all of the time. He now eats anything I give him.

I bought a pygmy angel last week and it disappeared ??? I looked everywhere for 3 days. I think it died :'( Good luck with your angel
