Python/Hygger question

I see all these devices create suction by attaching the drain end to a faucet but I don't want my waste water going into my sink - I want it to drain right into the toilet. Can I manually start the siphon with a squeeze bulb instead? Thx.

Most definitely. For the longest time I started the siphon on my Python by submerging the first 2-3 feet into the tank and then pinching the tubing and quickly pulling out the tubing, leaving the open end under water. I do 25 gallons on a water change and got too impatient waiting for the siphon to take out the water. I now pump it out with a MAG 9.5

I rarely do water changes but I'm super impatient so when I do things like clean my sump I use a homedepot bucket head shop vac. Sucka out 5g of water into a homedepot bucket in about 30 seconds. Dump bucket and repeat if needed. They work great for sump cleanings.

Did you attach the pump at the end with the drain and could you still use the nozzle to clean your sand or was there too much suction?

My guess is too much suction. Here's my setup of Pump, Pipe and Hose. Originally used the Python hose, but it was too long and eventually went with this short section of hose. Use the pump to empty 25 gallons into a 32 gallon Brute....and then use the pump to pump fresh saltwater back into the tank from a second Brute.
