Question on Metal Halide lights

Ok, I paid for Doug's medicine and am now ready to order my metal halide lighting. My son saw these on ebay and I am wondering if they are ok. What do you guys think? I was going to order a retro setup on Hellolights but these are even cheaper. Am I getting something not worth getting? These are the 2 setups on ebay, one has a mogul base and the other is HQI. Should I stick with Hellolights???

they both look good price wise, but I think the ballasts are Magnetic. they have a tendency of producing a little more heat than the electronic ones, and they have a slight hum during operation. The price definitely looks good, and see that you have looked further into hellolight's inventory. May I recommend looking at Vince's site? www.Oceanencounter.com
is the website that he owns. He has electronic ballasts (EVC tech) and are comparably priced. He also carries Icecaps which are a little more $ but I've been extremely happy with mine.

I would go with mogul single ended units since the bulbs are much easier to find. you can go into most local LFS and obtain one in the event that you needed one ASAP. You also have a little bit more of a bulb choice. I prefer XM 10K bulbs since they are a crisp white and have a rather high PAR for the spectrum. Take a look at some of his offerings, and drop him a line that you are a member of NJRC.

How are you going to mount the lights ?
In a hood or just Hang them?
How deep is your tank?

I am close 10 MIn away
I have been running Icecap Ballast and had no problems.
I have been looking at ARO ballast for my next tank.
