Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Assuming you are talking about the red growth covering surfaces of your sand and rocks - trapping bubbles and latter letting longer filaments, those are cyanobacteria. You eliminate them by
a) correcting (reducing) your nutrients in the water
b) creating more flow over affected areas
c) physically removing them so that the dying biomass does not release nutrients back to water
d) making sure the spectrum of your lights is fine
e) provide a cleaning crew that will not eat them per se, but will make sure that surfaces are cleaned of the accumulated bio matter
You can also use a product Chemi-Clean. I've heard of people having good results with that. But I would try and rid the tank of it naturally before going to those types of measures.
Aside from everything that Mladen has listed, it can also just go away on it's own. I have times where I would get patches of it for a few weeks and it would go away.
How old is your system? If it's only a few months old it could be going through it's natural progression. Some people get Hair Algae, Green Cyano, Diatoms... In my experience, this is all considered normal within the first 6 - 8 months of a tank being setup.
