Red Flatworms

My first saltwater tank a 20g long now has flatworms :'(

I think this is from water the cardinals and Priolepis were baged in at Reef encounters(Hackensack)

Ive had this tank set up for 4 months.
20lbs live rock
fish
1 green clown gobie
2 bangi cardinals
1 Priolepis semidoliata

coral
1 dendro
1 acan
1 porcillapora
6 polyps BPE ;D(brown people eaters)

OK so i love this tank and now it has flat worms.
Whats the first step?

Triple dose of Flatworm exit, then a big water change....Search the website for cures...There should be a few different threads on ridding your tank of Flatworms.

I'm not sure you got them from water in a bag...they can come in on rocks and coral frags, you usually won't find them floating around in the water column unless they are dead/dying.

Flatworms contain toxins that will crash your tank.. I strongly suggest that you siphon out as many flatworms as you can first because if there are a lot of them they will kill your corals. Get as many out of the tank as you can before using flatworm exit.

Aquatic Obsessions in Woodbridge sells Flatworm eating Nudibranchs.

These only eat flatworms and will slowly starve to death once the flatworm population is gone. IMHO, not a wise investment unless you have a large sustainable population of flatworms.

In addition to the prior posts - just wanted to say that for future purchases - might want to consider setting up a small QT - it doesn't have to be very large, just something large enough to temporarily hold your purchases so you can closely monitor for disease or bad hitchers.

Good luck!
