ReefCam Operational - Just not the reef :)

What I did was:

a. Purchase a logitech QuickCam Fusion from Ebay, which I got for like a 1/3rd the price of retail with shipping.
b. Purchase an extension USB cable on ebay for like $4.00 ( 5Meters ) instead of in the store for $30.+
c. Downloaded and installed webcamXP
d. Installed and configured webcamXP, ran the cable, connected the logitech fusion, hand wrote a webpage and installed the flash code instead of javascript.

Here we are. I love it.. It is going to be nice... For now it won't be on to often, but once I get my sand, rock and salt it will be on all the time. Since I am relaying it from my home it is not considered bandwidth from my host. Works really well.. Picture is great under any lighting condition. Thanks for asking.

Oh I want to see, I spent enough time staring at my own empty tanks now I can stare at someone elses LOL

Can't see it myself, either because maybe you have it off or because I'm on hubbies macbook?

Great to have when on vacation, well maybe not since I'd be checking my tank every hour LOL

mynd - the cam freezes/gets stuck at the "Connecting to WebcamXp".

Does it matter what browser I'm using to view it? (mozilla firefox here).

Hello there,

As of right now I do not keep it on all the time. If you see "connecting to webcamXP" it means that I have it turned off. In version 4 of the software which should be out in a few days, maybe a week. There will be a camera offline message there instead. I could configured it to do that now, but it takes alot of work to do it. I would prefer just to wait the extra few days.

In a few days I will have my sand and salt, the sand I got from the PetShanty, the kind I specifically wanted. Also, I will be getting my ViaAqua Salt delivered. Once I have those all I will need is my rock. I have some offers from people ( which I really appreciate ) I am just seeing if anyone is closer to me or if raider77 still has any of his rock for sale.

The cam will be up very shortly all the time.

Speaking of LR. I could use 10 or 20lbs, so if you need to purchase all of someone's rock short of 10-20lbs, drop me a PM.

Re: ReefCam Operational

Just an FYI. The Reefcam is operational today Saturday 08.18.07, and will be on till 10pm this evening if anyone is interested.

.... *bows in humility*

I might have to pick one of those up when I go digital camera hunting. I know I only have a lowly softie dominated tank, but I think it would be fun!

Looks great, but where are the livestock? :p
