In a 45g regular water changes should do fine.
THe problem in the nanos is that whatever you convert to the fuge chamber does not have a lot of surface area, it's much deeper than wider, so light has a harder time penetrating.
Also, fuges require enough water and flow (and space) that cheato tumbles a bit, and, under normal ciercumstances, yo uneed a considerable amount of cheato growing to effect change.
Been there with 2 pervious nanos, going there again soon.
It's not ideal, but if you want to convert one of the rear chambers, I'd advise using this light... JBJ Nano-Glo 4-LED Refugium Light - Marine Depot and keep in mind you have to keep on top of emptying the chaber.
A beter option is a hang on fuge, Finnex makes a great and affordable one with a light that works well... JBJ Nano-Glo 4-LED Refugium Light - Marine Depot
You really dont need one in a nano. I used to use them less as a filter and more as a place for pods to colonize.
Hope that might help. :)
