Looking to replace a brand new return pump i just bought , This is sooooo looud . Need to get one that is quiet! this is for a 90 with a 40 sump. The (rio)works well if your not in the same room. Any recommendations.. quiet is key ......

That's weird. One of the reasons I recommended it was because it is so quiet. Do you have anything underneath it. Is it possible that your hearing vibration from it on the glass. I gotta say that whole system was as close to quiet as one could get.

jgraz it pumps great but this one is very loud still have styro underneath pump not hitting glass.even turned down pump flow , no diff .sounds like im in a whirlpool. someone had a mag 18 fs is this any good>

Same here, took Johns recommendation and got one for the 120. Mine is dead silent. Maybe take it off line and see if anything is stuck in the impeller.

I have it sitting on a pad that it came with and I don't hear anything at all. Also had a mag9.5 before and that was quiet as well. Plus this mag18 is only 2 months old

I've used Mag's (18 & 9.5) and both were pretty quite. Depending on how the sat, you could sometimes hear some vibration, but I think any submersible would do that.

this pump has rubber suction cups but still very noisy . might check out sobo's pump later.
