RIP "Mator"

Got home yesterday from work to find my Gold Banded Maroon Clown "Mator" laying flat and lifeless on his favorite hairy mushroom. His eyes were cloudy, body rigid and he wasn't breathing. Almost as if he was paralyzed. Otherwise looked fine. Right before leaving for Ohio last Thursday for my father's memorial, I noticed he wasn't eating over the past couple of feedings but there wasn't time for me to investigate what was going on with him until I got back which was too late. The night before last, it took all of his effort to get the strength to swim up to the glass. My plan was to set up a hospital tank yesterday and transfer him over but as stated, too late. What ever it was, happened fast. All of the other fish were/are behaving normally. Had a good life in the 6 or so years I had him.

Sorry for your loss, any idea of why that happened?
Zero. It happened pretty fast. In searching the net yesterday, I saw everything from "clownfish disease" to some internal parasite eating from the inside out. The only visible symptoms were that he wasn't eating and very weak.

It is always not fun when a mmber of your family dies. It sounds like he had the best possible life he could have had though. 6 years wow. He could have lived a lot less time if he was bought by someone else. You should be proud of your self that you gave him such a good life. It is hard when family dies and it just flat out sucks, but he obvously was not doing to good those past couple of days so at least he is free of pain and in a better place now.
RIP Mator
