RO Booster Pump

I’m kicking around the idea of installing a booster pump to my RO/DI unit and wanted to get opinions. I know absolutely nothing about them. What’s your experience with using them? Who makes a good one? Which ones should I stay away from? Are there any maintenance issues you have with the pumps? Anything I'm missing? Thanks.

Paul I have the aquatec 8800 http://www.thefilterguys.biz/booster_pumps.htm
I absolutely love it. I had to buy my water before I got it. I just didn't have the pressure in my home. I can make about 5-6 gal an hr with it. That's with water set at the coldest setting. If I warm a bit that amount increases to about 7gal. I know there are some other ones out there but don't know much about them. I can adjust the pump to put out a higher pressure but I didn't. It increased my pressure going into the filter from about 45psi to about 90psi. Which may be a bit high but my system is working great. I also have the auto flush valve which turns on every hr to flues the membrane and the pressure switch which ATM I don't use. It can be mounted but my system is set up as portable since I make my water in the kitchen. I put everything in a milk crate and take it out when I need it. Between the pump and the flush valve it does make it a bit noisy but its not overwhelming. In the next room it's barely noticeable. I can't imagine you would be disappointed if you got one.

If you get the booster pump I would get the BRS upgrade kit. I put the extra membrane on mine and it makes water in no time at all.

Just placed the order with BRS….for the pump and power supply. Also cashed in the 1771 reward points I had for an addition $17.71 off…..sweet!

It's powered by the transformer that the pump runs off. I also have a pressure switch that hooks up to it also. I don't use it yet though. That would automatically shut down the system when the pressure builds, like when the topoff valve shuts.

I joined the booster pump club last night! And on top of that, I added another 75GPD membrane and I can not believe the output on this thing now! The product water comes out almost as fast as the waste water. :D

To anyone considering getting a booster pump, don't think, just do it!
