RO/DI TDS questions

Hi,

I just purchased a 150GPD membrane with the included flush/flow restrictor from air water ice for use with my 5 stage RO/DI system. When I swapped out my old 100GPD membrane and flow restrictor for the new ones, the auto shut-off valve doesn't close the supply line with the filtered side is turned off. It continues to run and flush through the restrictor (which is in the restricted flow mode). What can be causing that?

The other strange thing, the tap supply TDS usually reads in the low 200 PPM to sometimes 190 PPM, but the membrane's TDS output reads anywhere from 68-75. I flushed it for a good while and I've let the system run for hours and still reads high. After the DI stage I get 0 PPM, but it gets exhausted very quickly. I had all 3 of the pre-filters also changed very recently, sediment, carbon and I forget... My 1+ year old 100GPD membrane production was around 80 PPM. With a 98% rejection rate on the 150GPD membrane shouldn't my TDS output readings be much lower

As far as the auto-shutoff (ASOV), you need to make sure there is a checkvalve on the waste side of both Membranes. It *should* have been included, unless you added the ASOV yourself.

I have a check valve on the clean water side of the membrane but not on the waste side. I will add that in and try it.

MY MISTAKE, I wasn't paying attention to what I typed, the checkvalve is supposed be on the clean water side. You have it correct.

I e-mailed Don at AWI, he's sending over a new flush valve/flow restrictor. Hopefully it solves the problem.
