rodi waste ?

I didn’t realize when I got my RODI that they wasted so much water; the instructions say it is 3-4 waste per every 1 made. So when I make water for all my water changes if I make 80 gallons a month for changes and top off Ill be wasting 240-320 gallons? That seems extremely wasteful is that right? Is there anyway to conserve more of the water? If not Im not sure if it is really even effective to hook it up..

If you have the space you can store the waste water and use it to bathe, water your lawn, wash your dog, clean your floors ... etc etc.

That being said .. mine goes down the sink.

yes, it is a lots of waste, for storing those waste water for other use are simply not practical for me, cause i have ~400g of water, and with 10% water change plus auto top off... i just don't have a good way to store that much of waste water and can't *somehow* find much usage for it...

i currently using RO/DI, and feed the waste water to a 2nd DI-only unit, this will increase the DI usage, and some think this is not a good approach, am still looking for other ways...

you can check out the link below on Kati-Ani, and hope we can get something out of this meeting from the vendor (don't know when though)

the choice i can see now is:
- it is either route the waste water down the drain, which may not really cost that much as expected
- or, save the waste for "other* use??
- or, have to pay more $ for the DI usage
- or, use something like Kati-Ani

if you find other way(s), i am sure interested to know.

thx

My newest rodi, filter guys reef miser, RO's the RO waste. There are 2 RO's where the second is attatched to the waste line of the first. I get a lot less waste than my previous one.

Spectra Pure has a new RO/DI unit that only has a 1:1 waste ratio....weve all been waiting for something like this right ! BUT IT COST $950!! OUCH...how many gallon/months would it take to make up the difference between the cost of your waste water and the $900 bucks! ???
