rtba question

first anem for me so might be a silly question. he's looking a little deflated today is this normal at times or is it lacking something. thanks in advance

It is normal for it to deflate during intial acclimation.

They like a plastic bag full of water at some point during the first days of accimation it will purge all of the water and refill. If your water is not ideal when it refills it may get sick.

Watch for the mouth to stay open or gaping and it to be constantly shrinkin and expanding. That is not a good sign

Agree with the above post...totally normal for anemones to inflate and deflate. how big of a tank and what kind of lights do you have?

I like to also see whether a nem has the energy reserves to ensure it's tentacles can grab food easily (e.g. they are sticky to the touch). What kind of anemone is it - do you have a pic?

thanks guys it seems to have been a pretty momentary thing. all seems to be well with the animal. its in a red sea max 250 system and has chosen a nice nook about mid level and my clowns are hosting away. i'll get some pics up for tomorrow.

Nice tank. That's a good spot for the nem. Out of the limelight. Mine takes up too much realestate right on the front of my rockwork
