Seahorse Tanks....need info

I know a bunch of people here have had Seahorse tanks. I'm considering setting one up using a 29 biocube. Is there somewhere I can go to learn about the horses, tIeIs needs, etc?

Thanks!!!!

there's a group buy coming up and you could get a 1/15 chiller to help stabilize the temp on a 29. Or if the 29 doesn't have a top - add a fan to help keep the temps lower. SH do not need special light so if you can avoid MH or similar heat emitting lamps - even better.

what fish can you put in 72-74f with seahores?

It’s not so much the temperature that dictates tanks mates. Since seahorses are docile eaters, I don’t know if you’d want to put anything other than the horses (or related species) in with these guys.

pipefish......

Seahorse seem like they are A LOT of work!!!!

Only if the pipefish are captive bred. Adding wild pipefish to captive bred seahorses is a recipe for disaster. Since they are in the same family, they are capable of transferring bacteria and other pathogens to each other. Captive bred seahorses have never been exposed to any of the stuff that wild specimens have. Thus they are very susceptible to what the wild caught pipes are carrying.

They aren't really a lot of work, they just have very specific needs that need to be met in order for them to flourish in captivity. Not really any different than anything else is, just different needs.
