Skimmer Question

I have been running a Bermuda Aquatics BPS-5C on my 180 for a couple of months and it is by far the best skimmer I have used. Currently the skimmer outflow pipe is under the water level in my sump. Will this affect the performance? Can I cut the outflow pipe so it is above the waterline without any negative consequences? Raising the skimmer is not an option due to height constraints under my tank.

Thanks for any input.

Are you having problems with microbubbles in tank?? ???

If skimmer is working well in your system tweeking it may not be worth the time/effort.

For that skimmer is it recommended to NOT have the output placed underwater. I have a 3C and there is a siginificant difference if the output is submerged. I also got better performance when I let gravity help the output by making the output line exit with a small downward angle instead of a horizonatal piece.

I've got a EuroReef RS-100 and it said the same thing in the directions to it. Keep the outlet pipe above water. That would be impossible since I'm using it in sump. No matter how I could adjust it, it is still submerged. So far I've had no problems with micro-bubbles or the operation of the skimmer.
