Snail / Vodka ?

It’s been about three weeks dosing vodka. I noticed last night that a large snail I had was dead, shell completely empty. I don't keep them because I always had problems. This was a hitch hiker on something I bought a few months back and was doing fine. Could the Vodka have caused its death? I do have a black and yellow brittle star, which I had for 2 yrs, could this be the one killing snails? I have a bunch of baby snails in my sump prior to dosing vodka. I will have to see how many are there now. Usually, find them in the filter sock. I am concerned other things will suffer if I keep dosing. Any thoughts?

First, check the snail's BAC levels...

No but seriously, have you checked all of your other parameters? If it's just the one snail that's a confirmed death, I wouldn't worry too much, otherwise, maybe lower your dosage and see how the inhabitants react over the next week or so before pushing it back up.

What kind of vodka are you dosing? He could have been a vodak snob. ;)

Do you have any hermits in the tank? Most people reup there cleanup crew yearly because they usually die out or hunt eachother to extinction.

Hermits. Good point I have 2 fairly large red ones. I have only seen them grazing on rocks though but who knows when the lights are out.
