sponges growing on the LR is a good sign right? I just noticed a bunch of little q-tips showed up and the handful of sponge hitchikers i have are getting bigger...

Yes they are a good sign. The plumbing in my sump is absolutely covered with them.

they are sponges. its a very simple form of life. they filter water and grow and are sponge like...

They are called Scypha Sponges.

I believe they are of no harm to the tank, they are just filter feeders.
