Star Polyps Question.

but my green star p's appear to have dies as they have not opened for 4 days since I removed the Kenya Trees. Not sure it was related but it seems like it is. The stars were doing really well up to that point. I'm holding out hope because one or two of the hundreds of little heads are still coming out.
This stood out because I have the same problem, Star Polyps in the same tank as Kenya Trees Die Off and ones in a tank with out them thrive. I felt that the Kenyas were harmless but this may be a example of chemical warfare just affecting one other type of organism!
Any one else experienced a example of this?

I have a medium size lump of GSP and a huge Kenya tree in the same tank with no problems ever. The only thing that seems to be acting wierd now is a Finger Leather.

I have 2 large kenya trees(and a few small ones that I cant get to to get rid of) and enough star polyps that I have to cut them back or am gonna be over run with them very soon.

My Kenyas are around 9-10 inches tall and the star polyps I have 3 different colours with the brown ones being the largest colony at around 2.5-3ft long and half a foot wide.

So no issues keeping both on my end

i have two big kenya trees, a HUGE green star polyp colony, a couple decent sized red star polyp clusters all co-existing with any issues.

It depends how close they are to one another. I had GSP that grew in a perfect circle around a green Nepthea and never grew closer than a couple of inches.

Sorry bout that.....can spare a piece of mine if you wanna try again. I have a bit of brown with the white centers that I could spare if yours doesnt recover.

Can just break off a piece...I'm sure it will grow back.

It's a good theory but in my experience it's dependant on how close the GSP is to other corals. If the Kenya is above or up stream it could be dropping babies which come in contact with the GSP also harming it.

I have both in my 12 gallong nano, just glue the GSP to a rock and keep it away from other corals. The kenya tree i keep at the very top of my tank so it can fully branch out all the time with no blockage.

I posted the original post. After five days my GSP are back out and doing better then ever. It may have just been a reaction to the initial slime the Kenya Tree let out.
