starting corals

I think I am about ready to add corals into my tank.I have to admit I am a little confused about what will work in a pc lighted tank. I have 4 65 watt lights in a 45 gallon tank.I know I can keep softies which is a sps.. and I think i can keep some lps?Is frog spawn and torch corals, hard corals? I have a book that list all the corals but lps aren't mentioned. I am sorry to be asking so many questions but everyone here seems to have alot of experiance and I really have made enough mistakes already to have paid for an awsome set up.I also know corals are very intensive. Lighting placement water flow food. So any help would be great.

SPS=Smally Polyped Stoney corals. They can be amongst the hardest to keep. The easiest SPS to keep would be green or orange monteporas (caps or digitatas). Stay away from acros at first.

LPS=Large Polyped Stoney Corals. Things like brains, frogspawns, torches, ... Fleshy corals. Easier to care for, less light demanding. Great starter corals.

Softies=Leathers, shrooms, zoos. Easiest, generally most forgiving of the corals. Generally difficult to kill, no matter how hard you try.

if no rush...

attend the next monthly meeting, many people bring stuff for sales cheap... you can goto any LFS - local fish store, but why? you would end up with paying 3 to 5 times more in store.

I have some kenya tree leather frags for $5 a frag if you're interested. I am located in Waretown.

malulu I have kenya tree is that the same as leather frags? I was hoping to get to the next meeting but have a tech rescued drill the same day

there are several kinds of leather corals, kenya trees only being one of them. toadstools, devils hand... are common names for some of the other leather corals. they look decidedly different than kenya trees.

check out liveaquaria.com
they usually have a decent selection of softies to look at. its a decent place to find pics and info.
