They are unstable when filled with water and may break. You might be able to build some kind of support frame around it but it's easier to just buy a heavy duty garbage can.

I used them to cure live rock in for a couple of weeks, but they bowed so much from the pressure and weight of the water, I wouldn't trust them to hold water for any length of time.
