Still Using Egg Crate?

Is the standard to still use egg crate on the bottom of the tank and place the rocks on that before adding the sand? I've seen many tank builds recently that don't seem to both with it anymore........

Most people use Cutting Boards now, I’ve always placed the rocks on top of the glass and never had any problems.

Place the rocks on glass and then and sand around them.
