T12 End Caps

I just re-installed my Ice Cap 660 and T12 lights into my new canopy and now only one light, lights up. My wiring is the same and I changed the new buld that's not lighting with one of the old ones and nothing. Is it possible that I've got a wire loose in the end caps? Can you tighten these? Thought I'd ask before I start dismantleing the lights. (I've got them installed on plastic conduit fittings to lower them enough to match the elevation of my MH reflectors) Thanks for the input.

Sometimes I've put the bulbs to far apart and will not light. They should push the end caps out when you put the bulbs in. One time the ballest was the issue. Ice cap is here in NJ and will help you for sure.

If it were me I'd take the end cap apart and rewire it back up. It's a 5 minute job. If it's still not working you could try and switch two of the end caps and see if the problem follows the one end cap. If so you've found the problem.

PS End caps are pretty cheap.

Carlo,

Thanks for the reply, I didn't know you could take them apart. Exactly what I was seeking. The end caps are relativley cheap, but the drive to the LFS to get them is at least a two hour round trip. I'll pull one off and see if I can re-wire it and avoid the trip. If I have to go, it will just have to wait until the weekend. Thanks again!

In addition to what Carlo stated, inspect the bulbs. Sometimes you bend or break a pin and don't know it. Also try swapping bulbs and see if the problem follows the bulb.

I tried changing the bulbs, as I bought new ones for the swap, and still no luck. I was concerned that maybe I damaged the ballast but I don't think so, given the response I got from Ice Cap's forum on RC.

It's very doubtfull there is a problem with the Balast. It's probably more like a 99% chance it's the end cap.

I changed out about a half dozen of them last week where I work as they had gotten flaky from heat and bulb changes and wouldn't always fire up correctly.

They pretty much are a snap to take apart and rewire back up. Pretty much anyone who can use a screw driver can do this one.
