Reef specific otherwise it wont work. What kind of lights do you use right now? And what are you trying to achieve?

The fixture can be any T5 fixture. The bulbs need to be reef specific. People have had good luck with this fixture.

I thought you had to swap out the ballast to sue this fixture? At least what I was told when looking at new lights.

If youre trying to do a hybrid fixture, id go with leds over T5s. I just ordered some AliE bars that i asked them to customize the color for me. Telegraham has a bunch of info showing how good they are

He has a coral farm and he uses these cheap amazon t5 fixtures and they work for him.

There is a lot of gimmickry's with the high end reef fixtures but I think the benefit is marginal. I would personally go for a used Aquatic Life hybrid fixture. A lot cheaper than the ATI and the like but basically the same, with individual reflectors and waterproof end caps.

Interesting video. My understanding is the fixtures don't have fans either.
Ehen I had T5's I changed my bulbs every 18 months.
