Tanks on TV/Movies

I watch the new Magnum PI and there's a tank behind the bar in most episodes, which is great, but it's bleached coral with jus a few fish. I get it, background and it's a set, so not permanent, but it would be nice to see an actual reef tank in a tv show or movie

I think it was one of the narcos series, but I remember pausing some show to look at the background and seeing a bunch of tangs and couldn't tell if coral was real or not!

If you build and maintain fish tanks for a living. you would stay away from real reefs and
do a fish only with big fake corals. Maintaining a reef tank is too much work.
very few aquariums have large real reefs. Even in Vegas almost all the huge display tanks are fish only with fake corals

Most won't remember, but I worked on the film F/X- it was the opening scene I think where this bar is shot up and there's a fish tank that gets shot and the fish /water explodes all over the floor- I did the tank setup- worked with a local supplier

There is a vet in Red Bank that I use whenever we get our dogs heart and eyes checked before we use a dog for breeding. In their Tinton Falls location they have a beautiful cylinder fish tank. I forget how many gallons it is. 1643732893564.png
