I purchased a CA, KH and Mag test kits yesterday made by Reef Factory. Today I did a comparison of the CA Reef Factory test kit against the Salifert test kit.
First its packaged well; one thing I did notice was all the chemicals were liquid and there are 3 of them. Pics below.
Salifert has 2 chemicals a powder and a liquid.
Using Reef Factory the test was pretty simplistic and along the same lines as Salifert. Add chemicals to water and watch for the color change, both kits are water turns blue and you stop, flip syringe upside and see where the remaining liquid level is and note then check chart.
Reef factory CA was 385ppm
Salifert CA was 415ppm
Salifert 415ppm seems more accurate to me. Looking at old results. Last time I tested CA was Sep 2024 and at 490ppm.
Reef Fcatory 385ppm seems low IMO and 415ppm is more on par as all my corals are doing well, jinx.....LOL
I am wondering if this is a huge discrepancy , 30ppm, between test kits. Thoughts?
I will post similar comparison when I test the other 2, KH/Alk and Mag.
