These things need to die.

Does anyone know how I can kill these things. They are like rabbits multiplying in my tank................ Are there any fish that can start on the buffet that I have in my tank.

I bought some nice corals with hundreds of them on it. 2 days later, my peppermint shrimp had them all gone. Mike

Depending on how many there are... I have used the Kalk method of getting rid of unwanted anemones. Take a cup of RO water and mix it up and let it settle. Then take a syringe and suck up all the kalk "paste" and cover the anemone with the paste. It should kill it almost immediately.. I have done it plenty of times.. although I only had a few aiptasia so it wasn't terrible.

Just remember to shut off all your pumps when you do it and leave them off for about 1/2 hour after you're done.

The anemone in your pic looks like a Majano anemone.  I dont believe in adding any unneccessary chemicals to a reef tank so I suggest that you use boiling hot water.  Use a syringe and fill it with boiling hot water and then shoot the anemone at its base.  Make sure to have a net ready so that you can catch any pieces that break off.  Target each one and soon you will see that they will not be a problem.

As far as shrimp are concerned:  I have not heard of any shrimp that eat Majanos.  Peppermint shrimp are said to eat aptasia but not all of them are aware of this. ;)

Like I said before: Get a syringe and shot the base with boiling hot water. This will cause the majano to partially die off and the rest of it to release from its position. You catch any floating pieces in a net. Its as simple as that.

Thanks everyone.......

I was able to kill about 95 % of them I guess, at least the ones that I could see. I used liquid calcium and Joe's Juice, a painted them white...........

The battle against the Mojanos will continue.
