Trochus Snails

I have what seems to be thousands of baby trochus snails. I first noticed them about 2 months ago and I thought by now they’d be dead but they’re still going strong. At this rate I’ll be giving a bunch away this summer and try to get store credit from LFS.

I have like 20-25 in a 30 gallon JBJ.
They sit on the powerhead and spawn all the time. Sure I will be going through this shortly too.

That’s great. Do you have any wrasse? They keep my small snail numbers low.

My daughter loves trying to count them. She gives up at around 50 lol

Yes I do have a fairy wrasse that doesn't seem to bother them surprisingly.

For me the fairy wrasse weren’t bad with them. But the two yellow coris I now have don’t let them grown to any size

I suspect my YCW for knocking off several of the trochus and turbos I recently got. It might have killed one of my hermits too. I like it too much to let it go though. Well, that and I haven't actually seen it do anything wrong, don't want to unfairly blame it, it's just the most likely candidate in my tank.

My YCW just picks at pods- leaves the hermits alone-I don't have any trochus or turbos in that tank- mostly nerites- interesting though

Didn’t know you got the ycw you wanted, good for you they're great fish. Not 100% sure mine is to blame but too many fatalities in the first couple weeks of adding to be natural causes. Plenty for them to eat too so something is to blame.

Yeah, I did get it - long story- was told it was out of stock, but got it anyway- love it- eats flakes and frozen mysis, picks all day- one reason I want to get more pods- seems like it's the only one who eats them ( not really- but mostly)-

I added around 60 of this guys in around 9 months ago and it’s been around 3 months that I don’t see them but one. They are nassarius snails and probably the yellow coris and doryback have been the reason
