Up-Sizing My Tank (FOUND)

I currently have a 46 Bow front that I have just started cycling. After having it in place for a few days i don't like the way it looks. It doesn't fit right in the cabinet I have for it. I would like to up grade the tank to fill out the space better. Im just having a hard time finding a tank. Ive been on craigslist for a month looking and have not had any luck. I have found a few but haven't been able to get in touch or work anything out with the poster. So Im here asking for any help you all on the forum can give. The space I have available is 39" across by 20.5" deep. Im guessing thats about a 60.

Does anyone have anything they are looking to get ride of or are not using anymore that they would part with?

Thank you for taking the time to give this a read

Welcome Rj!! If you can't find anything used maybe check tropaquarium in ocean nj or I believe Reefabout has a special going on a 57 rimless which would fill that space well.

So I've found my new tank and I am picking it up tonight. What are you recommendations? Should I drain the water into a bucket, set up the new tank, then fill it with the old water and then finish topping it off with new water? Also does anyone have any rock they are looking to get ride of? I have about 30 lbs right now but need some more to fill the new tank.

Is the tank you are picking up already set up? Does it have any live stock?

If i understand you right and the tank had only water in it and no livestock, i'd ditch the old water (and definitely dump the old sand if there is any) and start with new aragonite, add rock, add all new water, and start your cycle. Best to start from a fully clean slate.

Paul its a 60 Gallon I got.

The tank I am getting is completely empty, but i started to cycle a 46 gallon bow front. My question is can i transfer the water front the cycling tank along with the rock to the new tank, then just top it off with a fresh mix?

Yes to water and yes to sand if that sand was new as well. Shouldn't be a problem.....but still need to wait however much time for the tank to cycle (and rock to cure if it was dry rock.)

Were going away the first week of april, so i don't plan on putting any fish in until we get back. That should give the tank plenty of time to cycle, right?
