I have a 9W Coralife Turbo Twist installed on my 120g reef tank with a 55 gallon sump. The total water volume (display and sump) is about 150g. Â I'm wondering if that size sterilizer is too small for the volume of water I have. Any thoughts?
We stopped running a UV sterilizer on our tank when we cut the hole through the floor. Haven't noticed any difference in the tank. Never bothered getting a bigger one.
I have a 57 Watt Aqua Ultra Violet UV Sterilizer with bulb wiper for sale. I also have a brand new bulb (a $50.00 value) to go along with it. This has a VHO UV bulb, so the entire unit is not as long as some of the equivalently sized units.
Email me if you are interested. I will let it go pretty cheap.
I would say that it is undersized. I have the 18 watt Turbo Twist on my 90 gallon. The turbo twists aren't the best UV Sterilizers. I think it has something to do with the bulb not being a true UV bulb and it being a PC bulb. That's why I oversized the unit a bit. Whether it actually does anything; I can't really say. I have noticed a lot less microfauna running around...I'm not sure if that's do to the UV or not.
