vortechs on larger tanks

Im looking for input from people with larger tanks in the 6'+ range. On my 180 Im running two mp40s, just recently I have started playing with the wave modes (normally I run it in reefcrest) Ive been letting it run in sort pulse, full speed and maximum time delay, not really getting a wave at all but I dont really care, i am more looking for flow. If you have a bigger tank how many vortechs are you running? I would really like to get more flow as guys with smaller tanks you can clearly see the polyps on sps sway back and forth. In my tank I really only see change in movement only to the center of the tank. If the left side vortech is on it really only pushes the flow to the center, and by the time it reaches the center, the right side vortech is already on which stops the flow from going across the tank. I also wondering about placement as well. I have mine positioned about 3-4" below the surface, Im wondering if lowering them will make any difference at all.

A friend of mine has a 120 gallon tank. He also use two Vortech 40W. I noticed that he that he did not put the vortech straight facing each other. He had them staggered. This seems to help. Try to see if this works for you as well.

If you don't have the pulse frequency correct the wave doesn't have time to reach the other side of the tank before the other Vortech starts and redirects the movement. This is probably the reason why your seeing so much flow in the center. Play with the length of the pulse once it's dialed in you'll know it.

So I might have the pulse set too long, and I need to shorten it? I thought being a longer pulse it would give it more time to make it all the way across
