Water Change Drum

I bought this drum from US Plastics. I want to use it to store Fresh Saltwater for water changes. The inside smells kind of funny. Is there anything I should do before putting water in it?

That smell is the plastic "off gasing", leave it open for a few days to let the gases out. Then fill it with fresh water for a few more days and then empty it out. Should be good to go after that.
