Wedding anniversary

This week is my 38th :rolleyes:wedding anniversary and I am almost out of ideas for gifts for my wife. :soap:
We have gone on many trips to off the wall places, I took her around Manhattan on a helocopter, we did the horse and buggy thing through Central Park a few times, ate at the top of the Trade Center and all the usual stuff. In a couple of weeks I am taking her Hot air ballooning but I am looking for something really special.
Any Ideas?
Yes, I know, I am very romantic. ;)

After 38 years, there are no restaurants she has not been to. I may do a day of going to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island where our Grand Parents came through. Like most New Yorkers, we never went there.
Then a great restaurant.

Get her a new tank!:encouragement:
She doesn't realize we have a tank now :jaded:

Sorry Paul i didnt know you was from NY.

For a guy who has done it all....I don't think we can give you much advise......

Since this is a Reef forum, I would suggest take her to the aquarium. The one in Camden is nice. And there is nice one in Riverhead, LI (Far) or in Coney Island (a bit run down but close to city). Then take her to a great seafood restaurant......

Good luck

How about having a personal chef cook for just the two of you in a nice outdoor setting with live classical music. Even though it's only your 38th, surprise her with a piece of jewelry of some sort. But don't just hand it to her. Have it planted in something that she will find throughout the evening. Possibly having a qiter deliver it in the glass of wine or something. Just a thought.

I like that idea but at the same time it sounds like a movie beening told lol

Have you ever tried a dinner cruise on one of the Cornocopia ships. Good food, drinks, music and dancing. It is local.

All good Ideas. We went on numerous cruises and even a many times on the dinner, dancing ones around Manhattan. Living on Long Island, you can't get away from cruising. but we have a boat.
A personal chef is a good Idea. We will be almost doing that as my friend owns one of the best restaurants in NY, We are going there that night.

I booked tickets to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We live so close but New Yorkers never think to go there as it is a tourist thing.
I used to see it every day when I worked in the City and I bring my boat near it but we never actually went in it. I am embarassed about that as my grandparents and everyone's Grandparents around here came through Ellis Island.

I took my wife on a lot of spontaneous trips over the years and we almost ran out of places we really wanted to go. We hit almost all the Caribbean, Hawaii, Australia and Tahiti. We did some of Europe, the Greek Isles, Sicily Turkey, and Istambul.
I know she wants to go to Germany, England and Ireland to see the castles but I want to go to the Galapagos, Madagascar and the Coral Sea.
When I get too old to dive I may want to go to those places but I really don't do cities. After working in Manhattan for 40 years I look to get away from cities thats why Bora Bora was my favorite place.
I think the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island would be great, then we will walk over to ground zero to pay our respects, it is only two blocks from there and I have not been there in a couple of years.
We will visit some friends working in the City and maybe our Daughter who works on Park Ave. :)

Maybe the most simple thing is in order for a change. If she is good at riddles, send her on a scavanger hunt where the last step is a hand written poem right before handing her jewelry or something.

We did the tourist thing (even though we live here) and I took my wife to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
I looked up my Grand Father's name and found him as all my ancestors came through there. I am glad we went because as Americans and New Yorkers, I felt I really should go at least once.
Then we went to my friends restaurant and didn't know that he was just listed in Zagat as the # 2 restaurant in all of NYC and the #1 restaurant in Queens. He cooks for the Mayor and guests once a week at Gracy Mansion.

Of course while everyone was taking pictures of the Statue, I was looking for amphipods on the rocks there

The Freedom Tower is coming along nicely also. If I was still working I would be working on it which would have been an honor.
