I've been doing a large amount of travel this past month....back and forth to NC. Made what was supposed to be a two to three day trip to NC that turned into a week or so. First I was told the battery was bad in my truck....new battary. Two to three starts later, and a distance away from the battery change, the truck wouldn't start.....new starter needed........And was now told the battery wasn't installed properly. So a week or so in NC, and the wallet considerably thinner, I return to NJ to find my skimmer not working. From the light skimmate in the cup, my guess is that it died the day I left.

Pulling the pump apart, I find the impeller broken so that the magnet part spins, but the mesh-wheel just sits there. I have a back up pump, but it has a pin wheel impeller. That's installed and I'm back in business. Meanwhile the tank has suffered.....algae growing on the sandbed and the sump is down right nasty. Otherwise everyone is alive and breathing. Makeing water to do a water change now.

Sorry to hear about your issues, hopefully they are over for now. I am sitting here wondering how a battery can be installed wrong....

Here's what they did wrong......The positive cable strap was broken, so it was simply placed over the post.....they never told me it was shot.

The cable straps were never cleaned up and wire brushed. When the second garage saw the battery, he first blamed me for the install, and I told him a garage did it. He stood there in shock. He then simply lifted the negative strap off the battery without using a wrench....so it was never tightened up. Two new cable straps and I was back in business with the battery:

Wow!! That's pretty bad workmanship. I had a buddy bring me a truck that Firestone let him drive away. Ford 550 dually, the rear rotor and drum were so worn that the rotor had come loose from the drum. I have never seen anything like it. It amazes me how "professionals" can miss stuff like this.
