So I have been having a major cyano issue recently and could not figure it out, all levels are in line and nothing has changed. I did not check my RODI tds because I changed all filters recently except the membrane. Well I decided to check my TDS and it was over 50! It turns out after troubleshooting that my membrane ripped open and was passing unprocessed water, yes it ruptured. Hopefully the tank willturn back around now that I caught this because it was running like a top before this....

So what are some issues that you guys have had that were strange and hard to detect?

good thing you found this out .hopefully this will get better . Joe if you need emergency water let me know.i periodically check the tds.

Thanks, using di water from the store right now, zero tds. The stuff should be here soon. The kicker is I replaced all filters except the membrane a few weeks ago and was zero. This killed a brand new di canister.

I had a similar experience a few years ago that prompted me to buy the BRS 6 stage rodi WITH the dual TDS monitor. It measures water entering the DI and again when exiting the Di.

I have the same.....what's average life cycle of a ro cartridge? A few years?

Mines almost 2 years now and I expect more since we added a home water softener a few months back!

Turns out from this issue I was topping off water with .15 phosphates... Gfo is exhausting in a single day and my level isn't coming down much. Things like this make you question staying in the hobby. Lost a bunch of sps after I long run of the tank looking great.

You just have to push through and fight down all the gremlins, once you get it all fixed you'll be happy you stuck it out!
