what color looks nicest for the bottom of a bare bottom tank? i know eventually it will be purple.... blue(like marine background), purple (like coralline), black, or tan (like sand)? what have most people gone with?
Most people just put starboard down. The advantage to that it is will reflect light (until it is covered in coraline). The more light reflecting around the better (which is why "they" suggest not painting the back of the tank, even on the outside).
I have a starboard bottom .. Its white before but now my tank is up for almost 2 yrs then its full of coralline algae.. here is a pic so you can see ...
nice, looks cool, and it's available in colors now, and it looks like they have something called marine board for saltwater aplications, should i get the 1/4" or would 1/16" suffice?
I had starboard in my first setup and liked it alot . I bought mine from eBay . It also protects the bottom glass in case of any accidents . You could always go mirror ,lol, just kidding but I wonder what it would look like and it sure will reflect lights.
i've seen an article in tfh where certain fish respond to their own reflections in mirrors, i can just imagine all my fish jumping from the tank cause they think another fish is coming at them from underneath...lol
well, i think i'm gonna do the starboard in this case, and very lightly silicone the seams... cause a 5 lbs rock or so rolling off the top is scarey to think about, so i like the idea of some cushion
