What do you feed your angels?

So, I have this bi-color angel that is awesome. He has been the model citizen, and has not once picked on a zoa or shroom.

When I got him, they told me he was eating the same mysid and formula b frozen that his tank mates were eating. Well, he isn't.

He grazes all day long, but so does my tang. Granted, my tang will eat literally ANYTHING I put in the tank: frozen ANYTHING, flake, pellet, dried nori, it doesn't matter, he eats it. But, with both of them grazing, I can't see there being an ample supply of pallatable algae for both of them. The angel won't touch the dried nori, or any of the other food for that matter.

So, I got some chaeto from Rich and on a whim, I dropped a small clump in the tank. The angel went NUTS over it.

What else are you guys feeding angels? I don't want to have to deplete my chaeto supply if he will eat something else, but I will if it is what will keep him happy and healthy.

I had a post about an emperor angel. Got worried that he wouldn't eat for about a week. After that he only picked here and there, finally after two weeks he will eat just about anything. Flake, Frozen, Nori, and I even tried broccoli. Most of the posts told me it would just take time for him to acclimate to my tank. It's been a month and a half now and he is doing fine. Give it time and hopefully he will settle down. Best of luck.

Thanks TNT. I do feel a little better that I got him to eat the chaeto, and I do see him grazing nearly every time I'm near the tank. But, now that I think about it, he is still a bit skitish when I approach the tank. Hopefully he starts eating some other stuff soon. Until then, I'll keep giving him the macro if that is what he wants.

My angel is still skitish when I approach the tank, he is also affraid of my hippo tang and me. I've never seen him go after the angel, but for the most part, if the hippo is moving fast my angel is hiding. Emporer first started grazing before he ate anything and I think the first thing I saw him go after was frozen mysid.

Cool. I know he is afraid of the scopas tang. "Dr. Evil" tail wacked him pretty good the first day he was in the tank. Now the angel is getting a little braver, and "Dr. Evil" lets him out to swim.

Funny, cause the clowns put the tang in his place when he came in, and the tang never went after the clowns, still doesn't, he even lets the clowns take food right out of his mouth, and the clowns are only about 1 1/2 inches. But the tang went after the angel on day one, not the clowns. They left him alone.

Wierd heirarchy these fish got! LOL!

I'll just keep feeding the way I have been for now, at least I know everyone else is eating the food and it isn't getting wasted. Hopefully he'll come around soon.

I know I have some pods in there, but I think I'm going to try to boost the pod count a bit. I recently put some really good chaeto in there from RichT, and I removed the pre-filter from my return pump so more of the pods would hopefully make it to the display tank.

My angels seem to enjoy good old brine shrimp. When I added the most recent (the bi-color) he did not eat very much for the first week or so, but now a few weeks later, he eats very well. I have tried mixing in mysid but they do not seem to like it.

Thanks Kenny. I may add that to the mix and see what happens. I've had him for a couple weeks now, I'm hoping he'll come around soon. Although, at least he's eating SOMETHING. ;D

I had my bicolor in QT for 5 weeks where he mostly ate nothing! He would eat some brine, occasionally. I put him in my display and within two weeks he was copycatting the other guys and eating everything and anything that I put in the tank. They're pretty picky eaters but be patient. As long as he eats something, some times, he'll be fine.
