What do you think of this light??

The amount of light the fixture puts out seems ok. the thing I'd worry abou tis that the price seems too good to be true. If you look at the prices of the component parts from a typical online vendor, you'll see that the price of just the components is a lot greater than the cost of the fixture. Makes me wonder about the quality.

I'm not saying don't get it, but do be careful.

If you do buy it, I'd like to hear how it goes. It's certainly a great price.

But, me personally. Before I put it on my tank, I'd plug it into something that would trip on overload, place the lamp on a concrete floor with no flammables around it and run it for a few weeks. I've seen too many horror stories about lower cost halide lamps catching fire to risk my house saving a couple hundred bucks.

I asked the seller alot of questions on this light with no good responses.
They are not UL approved they don't cover broken bulbs because they are a free GIFT ::)
If I remember correctly these are the new line from JEBO.
IF your looking for a fixture on ebay check out track_gps fixtures are really nice UL approved with a 5 year warrenty.

That is one of aquatraders many selling names, they keep switching once the neg gets to high, the key things to keep a eye out for is

1)Free items included: plan on not getting a replacement if any of the items are damaged or fail.

2.)All sales final, no refund

All Odyssea lights come with a 6 month manufactures warranty, if the seller isn't stating a warranty they are not a authorised dealer and are not able to offer the warranty. Look for a seller that offers the full warranty and doesn't have the free item clause in their listings.

Hope this helps,

This is defianately the Oddysea fixture. Lots of talk both positive and negative about it. Seems like many people replace the bulbs and some replace the balasts too. I actually have one of these and it seems to work fine for me. I have a new tank so I can't comment on coral growth but so far my house has not burned down. My fixture came with 2 broken power compacts which were propmtly replaced (i paid the shipping).

If you are going to take a shot at this buy it directly from Aquatraders. Free shipping and at least some sort of warranty.

AquaTraders is no better.

Buy Odyssea from an authorized dealer, not from AquaTraders. their warranty does not cover free items and shipping back to them is expensive unless you have a business account with UPS.

If you have a problem, AquaTraders is almost impossible to get in contact with. I would let this one go.
