What's all the fuss over vitamin C?

I was told today to use vitamin C as it will improve the look of my zoos. True?

Vitamin C won't do much for corals but can be of limited help for the fishes.

You want to add it to the food and not directly to the water.

PS most fish foods have enough in it already so while not snake oil it's usually not needed.
