Was wondering what the epoxy of choice is for securing frags to the main rock structure and glass?
I bought marineland and that stuff is junk,it wont cure and my frags are all beginning to slide off the rocks.
Thanks

They are all basically the same. None work as expected. It works best when you use the least amount of epoxy necessary to fill the nooks and crannies then use a dab of super glue gel between the frag and epoxy and the epoxy and reef. You can also mix some gel with the epoxy which causes the epoxy to set faster but dosen't do much for it's stickiness (it's real messy and you'll need gloves to do it).

Another way to look at it: Gel sticks good but won't bridge the imperfections well enough to create enough surface area for a good bond. The epoxy can fill the imperfections but isn't very sticky. So using the better attributes of both provides a decent solution.

Allowing a little time for both compounds to start setting before placing in the tank will yield better results. I've had good results placing frags on vertical surfaces with this method.

As far as attaching to glass, I've never attempted it so I don't know if this will work. There are commercially available magnetic plugs that will do the trick though.

Hope that helps.

I've been using super glue gel. works good. Have to rub a little on the surface first. it gets a covering on it when placed in water so you have to work it in to place. just a soft rub. nothing that would disturb or knock anything over.
