Zeovit zeolites in a next reef reactor...

Hey guys I have been thinking about doing Zeo on my frag tank. My reasoning is that I have very little live rock rubble in my small sump and the tank is bare bottom. Due to these 2 things I feel that the tank does not have adequate biological filtration. I am debating between running bio-pellets and doing the bare bones Zeo. I have a next reef reactor laying around and hoping I can use this. Any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Kevin

If your gonna do biopellets you can use the next reef reactor but if you want to do zeo you need a zeo reactor so you can agitate the stones by pumping the reactor. I tried both and ended up shutting them down. I found that they both stripped my water too quickly and my coral colors became very pastel. Thats just my experience.

I know with Bio Pellets if you add to many when first putting them on line it will strip your water clean.
When I was doing Testing for Warner Marine on egoBAK We found the best way to use Bio Pellet for the first time is to start with 1/3 for the first week. The 2nd week will be the next 1/3 and then on week three the last 1/3. Also very slow tumble.
I have been using egoBAK Pellets now for over four years.

The zeo system bare bones is ok... but the zeolites need to be shaken up daily. Also they can strip your system very fast to what's called an ultra low nutrient system. Which you will then need to start adding other elements of the zeo system. If not you'll loose all the color and your coral will starve to death.
