KH Guardian Alkalinity Monitor

I test alk pretty much every day with my hanna checker. I've been kicking around the idea of picking up a alk Monitor. I like the price of the guardian and the reviews for it seem pretty good. Just wonder if anyone on here has one and how do you like it.

kicking the idea of getting one if I ever get a bigger tank. are you guys dosing? I almost feel like using a cal reactor would cancel this out IMHO. once a cal reactor is tuned, it's like a set it and check on it a few weeks/months thing.

Thats a pipe dream on the set it and forget it. You will always have to adjust for growth and the fine-tuning process is a pain. but when you do it based on PH from the reactor its pretty easy. The awesome part of the Guardian (any legit alk monitor) is that you dont need to figure out when to test. it will tell you based on the dips you will see in your test. So in that case it will remove the guessing game related to when to test for consumption increase. I love it !!!!

As you can see i had a surge in consumption around 09/05 that i have been tweaking to get settled which i finally did on 09/08. you can see the log and see the fun that entails. but overall its a great tool !!!!

I have KH monitor. It will be for sale once the trident comes available. It always seems to have some sort or error. It’s in a PH error mode right now, I’m just tired of messing with it.

The trident doesn't really do anything for me I don't feel like you need to test calcium and magnesium every day. I test calcium once a week and magnesium twice a month. Now if the trident tested alk, nitrate and phosphate then I would be all about it.

I agree with you, I just want it to be more hands off for the alk, the other tests are just extra. There are a few on the market and I’m sure I can find one I’m happy with, I just figure if I’m going to make a change, I’ll wait for the full integration into apex.

I was really interested in the mindstream h20 monitor that was going to come out at least a year ago. Small device that would constantly monitor 10 parameters. Still hasn't come to market. There was so much promise in that device.

I may take you up on that. Carlos from CoralVue is telling me that nothing is wrong. The unit seems to disagree.
