No. Uv is just to clear the water column and or parasites. Bad smell use some carbon. Lots of algae, get snails, algae fish like tangs, blenny, bubble algae get emerald crabs. Use prime if your going through mini cycles.

On my old biocube I used a cheap pump from petco. I just stuck a hose and zip tied a pvc elbow on it. It worked OK but I had to keep an eye on it as the elbow wasn't exact fit and could come loose. Solved that mostly with wrapping plastic bag around the receiver to thicken it up. I guess...

Wet or dry? Wet (live) went yesterday. Have a lot of dry I can let go $1/lb. I can throw some dry in the sump if you need but it does take awhile.

If i was gonna start over i would get a t5ho fixture and some metal halides and i would probably buy used. Or get t5 and some name brand leds used again. You can get a nice light for couple hundred over a new cheap light on Amazon for the same price.
