regardless of how much water Gyre pushes, I dont like its looks. Too bulky for my taste. I had Jebaos for a while. It's alright in the looks department and pushes a crazy amount of water. But they broke after about a year. Committed for Vortechs for life. Unless someone invents something cooler.
I had two MP60 wetsides for which the magnetic casing came apart and I trashed them. Wish I knew that Ecotech sells the magnetic frame separately! I would have saved about 85 bucks.
Paul,
The wye takes it to the sewage. Shouldn't there be a check valve of somekind which prevents from the sewage backup? This drain is from the original construction. Only I have added the additional drains into it. Not sure what's wrong.
Here is what I did:
Atleast I will know when the waste water is running.

Hey, its me. The one who was complaining about electricity bill. This time my complaint is going to be about my water bill.
A rude shock was in store when I opened the water bill last month. It was $625 for the months of Jul-Oct. I have a sprinkler system due to which the water bill spikes...
I have a 180g+60g DT, 75g sump and a 75g Fuge. Never had a nitrate issue. It is undetectable probably due to my weekly water change regimen which I am doing currently to battle hair algae and cyano. Thinking of going Natureef. I see many have recently joined the bandwagon. Any advice that I can use?
The AC replacement is long overdue. The newer ones are much more energy efficient and the current one I am using is end of its life anyway. This is something I am going to look into right away.
I am ok with the chiller. It is only seasonal and runs only when the water temperatures hits 82. So I am not so much concerned with it. But I have to do something about the blue lines. These two pumps runs 24X7X365 so replacing them may be a good option.
I have made that arguments several times before, LOL. I have also been blaming it on the old central AC for the high electric charges. Once I replace the AC, my wife is going to find out the real reason why my house is getting such a high electricity bill compared to the neighbor.
Everytime I see my current bill during summer months, a chill runs through my spine. How much really I am spending for my hobby on electricity alone, month after month? I decided to itemize all the equipments that I use and come up with a chart:
Equipment
Watts
kWh
Hours/day
Per Day
Per Month...
Thanks Phil & Mark. These methods might work when there is handful of Aiptasia. In my case there are literally hundreds. I am looking for more "shock and awe" than thunderdome method to get rid of them.
