Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
So this morning I wake up and there is no flow coming into my DT from downstairs. So I go down to the fish room to find that my pump has finally went. Luckily I have a backup of every pump in my system, a couple of unions disconnected and 10 minutes later tank is up and running again.
So...
I will be flying. Last year I packed up all my frags on the last day of Macna in a styro box, packed it in my suitcase and checked it. Everything was fine after the travels. Of course you would have to time your trip so you are flying out that last day, which is what I did.
Well there isn't much good news in the world these days, but its nice to see a story like this!!!

Just be careful with turning the reactor off completely. You dont want to drop your levels too quickly. Looks like your amount of coral is still low, so consumption should be slow. Just monitor daily to make sure.
Ok, Mike the calcium reactor is what is dosing and raising your ALK. What type of media are you using?? I strongly recommend using ARM extra coarse, anything else will turn to mush in a few months and clog up your entire reactor. I was going to mention the second chamber should be filled, but...
I believe I saw an MTC calcium reactor in your tank thread. Is that online?? If so that is what is raising your alk. You need to lower the bubble count slightly and this will in turn lower your alk. You don't want to stop dosing as this will drop the level too quickly and stress your corals even...
Mike, the tips of the sps most likely are "burning" due to your alk being too high. 11.5 is pretty high. I would slowly bring it down to the 8-9 range.

Kind of hard to tell from that picture, but I doubt its coraline algae if its green. It almost looks like individual leaves of Halimeda starting to sprout up from the rock. Is the texture slimy or hard to the touch??
Mike, the algae is growing on the coral, because that part of the coral is dead. Check your parameters mainly ALK and PO4 and if you have clippers try clipping that part of the skeleton off. Something is out of whack which is causing the stylo to bleach out on the tips.
And fwiw if you read what I said I never stated Prazi wasnt reef safe, I said it was not documented to successfully treat a tank for AEFW. And as for me mocking my friends in public I have no idea what you are talking about!!! That is a pretty strong accusation and I resent it, but hey if you...
Apologies to Mike and Nicole for cluttering their thread. I created a new thread for the Prazi/AEFW discussion, so that we can further discover information on this in tank treatment for AEFW.

Sunny, if it worked there would be hundreds of threads documenting its effectiveness and AEFW wouldn't be such a major problem in this hobby and the makers of Prazipro would be making millions in sales and advertising it as an effective treatment for AEFW.
If you have had "hands on" experiences...
